Ultra-sensitive high-accuracy quantitative proteomics of complex biological systems and diseases
As we and others have described recently, modern mass spectrometry permits quantitative and sensitive measurements of both protein abundance and their chemical modifications, as proxies of biological and pathological activities.
Now, Paolo Cifani has led the development of an improved method for high sensitivity quantitative proteomics. The combination of automated multidimensional nano-scale chromatography and targeted mass spectrometry should enable ultra-sensitive high-accuracy quantitative proteomics of complex biological systems and diseases.
We are currently working on refining this method as part of the Quantitative Cell Proteomics Atlas, with the goal of implementing it for both research and clinical testing.
